Busness Closure & Dry Law (updated 13 Jan 2022)
🛒 All businesses that serve the public must remain closed from midnight until 5am. Exceptions to closure include supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies, health facilities, hospitals, among others. Restaurants, clubs, bars, etc ARE closed midnight to 5am. Effective through at least 02 February 2022, per executive order EO-2021-086, and extended by EO-2022-002.

Restaurants, Bars & other Food Establishments (updated 13 Jan 2022)
🍔 ALL CUSTOMERS (2 years old and older) must show proof of vaccination or negative COVID test results - In order to be admitted to food establishments you are required to show either (a) vaccination card showing that you are "fully vaccinated", (b) negative test (molecular or antigen) results of test administered by an authorized health provider no more than 48 hours prior to arrival at the restaurant, or (c) evidence of positive test in last 3 months along with documentation proving your recovery. Effective through at least 02 Feb 2022, per executive order EO-2021-081.

Stores, Offices & similar places that serve the public indoors (updated 13 Jan 2022)
🛒 The capacity in all facilities that "serve the public indoors" will be limited to 75%. This applies to stores, malls, offices, etc. Effective 17 Jan 2022 through at least 02 Feb 2022, per EO-2022-002.
Hotels, Resorts & other Lodging (updated 13 Jan 2022)
🏨 In order to check-in to any lodging facility (short-term rentals, AirBNB, hotels, resorts, etc), all members of your party (5 years old and older) are required to show either (a) vaccination card showing that you are "fully vaccinated", (b) negative test (molecular or antigen) results of test administered by an authorized health provider no more than 48 hours prior to your arrival, or (c) evidence of positive test in last 3 months along with documentation proving your recovery. This applies to all people 2 (two) years old and older. If you are unvaccinated and staying more than a week, you are required to show new negative test results weekly. Per executive order EO-2021-062 and EO-2021-075.

Events, Stadiums & Theaters (updated 13 Jan 2022)
🏟️ All attendees at group activities of less than 250 people at facilities that encourage crowding, indoor or outdoor, must show proof of vaccination OR negative test (molecular or antigen) results of test administered by an authorized health provider no more than 48 prior to arrival at the event. Facilities include theaters, amphitheaters, stadiums, conference and activity centers, and any other place where events are held. This applies to everyone 5 years old and older. Kids under the age of 5 are not permitted to attend these events at all. Effective 22 December 2021, per EO-2021-080, and modified by EO-2022-002

Cruise Ship Passengers (updated 30 Dec 2021)
🚢 All cruise ship passengers and crew who wish to disembark in Puerto Rico must be fully vaccinated, and must have a negative molecular or antigen COVID test performed within 48 hours before disembarking in PR. All passengers and crew who test positive, or have been in close contact to someone who has tested positive, will not be permitted to disembark in Puerto Rico, regarless of vaccination status.
Air Travelers Arriving in Puerto Rico (updated 20 Dec 2021)
✈️ DOMESTIC TRAVELERS (effective 27 Dec 2021, per EO-2021-081)
All DOMESTIC travelers (2 years old and older) arriving in Puerto Rico are are required to show BOTH
  1. negative COVID test results from test administerd by an authorized health provider no more than 48 hours prior to arrival in PR AND
  2. either (a) vaccination card showing that you are "fully vaccinated", (b) negative test results of test administered no more than 72 hours prior to your arrival, or (c) evidence of positive test in last 3 months along with documentation proving your recovery.
  • If you do not have your test results upon arrival, you have 48 hours to produce those results, or you will be fined $300 per person.
  • If you are un-vaccinated, you are required to quarantine for 7 days, even if you have negative test results.
✈️ INTERNATIONAL TRAVELERS (effective 06 Dec 2021, per CDC)
All INTERNATIONAL air passengers, regardless of vaccination status, must show (before boarding flight to the US) a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 1 day before travel to the US. This applies to all travelers, 2 years old and up, flying from INTERNATIONAL (outside of the US) destinations. Flights between Puerto Rico and the States are domestic flights, so this does not apply to travelers arriving in Puerto Rico from the States.
📄 ALL TRAVELERS arriving in Puerto Rico are required to submit a travel declaration upon arrival via the PR Government Travel Safe website. This is where you will upload your COVID vaccination card and/or negative COVID test results.

Staying at Coqui's Hideaway During Coronavirus & COVID-19 Pandemic

During these difficult times, providing a safe and clean place for our guests is of utmost importance to us. We have always strived to provide a spotless rental space, and now with the additional stress of Coronavirus, we have the necessity to provide a pathogen-free space where your family can relax and enjoy your vacation.

In the paragraphs below, we have summarized the protocols we are following, as laid out by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (that's the PR government's tourism department). But, before we get into that, here are some reasons that we think our rental property has some built-in features that keep your family safe …

  • We only rent to a single party at a time - always have - always will. That means that you won't be rubbing elbows with other guests. You won't have to share dining spaces. You won't have to share the swimming pool.
  • The only other people you will see on the property are your hosts, Gwenn and Ray, who are both fully vaccinated (and have received vaccination booster). We will maintain proper social distance, but we will be available should you need us for anything.
  • We do the cleaning and sanitizing of our rental ourselves. Ultimately, this is our home, and we live on the property. So we have an extra incentive to make sure things are sanitized according to required standards.
  • We have a full kitchen for cooking your own meals. Limit your exposure by preparing some of your own meals, or enjoying your take-out food in the comfort (and isolation) of your own home.
  • We have full-size clothes washer & dryer, dishwasher, and household cleaning supplies. So you can do any extra cleaning that will give you additional peace of mind.
  • We offer up to 1300 square feet of living space, one indoor and two outdoor dining areas, a private pool, and acres of gardens to wander around in - so there is plenty of room to spread out in case you want to hunker down.

Our rental property is registered at the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, and we follow the Health and Safety measures enacted in July 2021. A copy of the Health and Safety measures can be found at https://prtc-covid19.com/.

How We Prepare for Your Arrival

  • Our rental is required to remain vacant for a minimum of 48 hours between guests, to allow for "organic" disinfection of surfaces, and to provide time for air exchange to address the possibility of airborne pathogens.
  • All towels and linens (used or not) will be washed and replaced between guests. For this reason, we will no longer provide "extra" sheets, "extra" towels, etc. If needed, they are available upon request.
  • All dishes, glassware, and kitchen utensils (used or not) will be run through the dishwasher between guests. For this reason, we have eliminated some of the "exta" kitchen gadgets. If needed, they are available upon request.
  • All high-touch hard surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, including countertop, door handles, tables, chairs, lamp switches, dresser drawer handles, light switches, blind pull handles, fridge, remote controls, alarm clocks, television, trash bins, clothes iron handle, hangers, luggage racks, faucet, toilet seat & flush handle, shower head, range controls & surfaces, and microwave.
  • For household cleaning, we are using EPA-approved disinfectants with claims to be effective against viruses, bacteria, and other airborne and bloodborne pathogens.

Upon Arrival at Our Rental

  • Upon arrival at our rental, face masks covering nose and mouth are required for all guests. Hand sanitizer must be used by all guests prior to entering our rental.
  • We provide hand sanitizer in a dispenser at the entrance to our rental, disinfecting wipes for your use inside our rental during your stay, and hand soap at each sink.
  • Within 2 hours of arrival at our rental, all guests must complete the Puerto Rico Tourism Company "Travel Declaration & Contact Tracing Form". We are required to maintain this information on file for 12 months following your stay.

While at Our Rental

  • As your hosts, we will maintain a minimum 6' distance from our guests. Face masks covering nose and mouth will be required (for all involved) any time we interact with our guests indoors.
  • Hand sanitizer must be used by all guests prior to entering our rental.

Executive and/or Administrative Orders

  • All guests must comply with any/all executive orders and/or administrative orders regarding Coronavirus / COVID-19, restrictions, and regulations that are in effect during your stay with us. Failure to comply with any of those orders, restrictions, or regulations will result in the immediate expulsion of your entire party from our Property. In this situation, any monies paid toward the rental of the Property will forfeited, and no refunds will be given.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

We have modified our standard cancellation & refund policy. Our current policy, based on when you cancel, is …

  • 100% refund of deposit 30+ days pre-arrival date
  • 50% refund 29-14 days
  • All cancellations will incur a 3.5% processing fee based on the deposit amount previously paid

In addition, we have added the following language to our vacation rental agreement …

CANCELLATION DUE TO CORONAVIRUS-RELATED GOVERNMENT MANDATES - If, prior to your arrival, the Puerto Rico government or its agencies issues a mandate or executive order prohibiting inbound travel to Puerto Rico during your scheduled stay with us, or if government or its agencies declares short-term rentals like ours to be non-essential and forces us to shut down during your scheduled stay with us, all deposit payments will be refunded (less a 3.5% processing fee).

CANCELLATION DUE TO COVID-19 INFECTION OF YOUR HOSTS - If one of your hosts (Ray or Gwenn Bentz) contracts COVID-19, and is known to be contagious during your scheduled stay with us, it would be irresponsible of us to allow you to stay at our property. In that case, we will refund all deposit payments you have made without penalty. We will not be liable to you for any additional charges that you might incur in making changes to your travel plans.
