We had such a wonderful time here at Coqui's Hideaway. You've really thought of everything. We so appreciated the availability of beach chairs, beach blankets, umbrellas, sand toys, and the fully-stocked kitchen, which made it easy to cook all the food we bought at WalMart, Ralph's, and Amigo. You really made our holidays special with the gifts of Christmas cookies, incredibly good Puerto Rican "eggnog" (Coquito), and the coconut cream desserts (Tembleque). The welcome basket of banana bread and local treats was so appreciated. The house itself is comfortable, and we looked forward every day to having our dinner on the porch overlooking the valley and the lights below – some nights we saw fireworks, and on others we saw cruise ships out at sea. The property is gorgeous – it must be a full time job to maintain all of the flowers and trees so beautifully. It was like living in a botanical garden. Our kids loved the pool, and we all enjoyed bird wathcing and flower-spotting from the shaded patio. We did day trips every morning, and sat poolside every afternoon. Your PRDayTrips web site has so much fabulous information, and the discounts are great. Couldn't have wanted anything more. Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay at Coqui's Hideaway. It came with everything that you would need, and so many extras. The flowers and the welcome basket was a nice surprise. The banana bread was delicious. The pool and the gardens were beautiful, and it was nice sitting on the porch with the view. We went to El Yunque, the beach at Luquillo, ate at King's Seafood in Luquillo, and went on a a boat trip with East Island Excursions. Thanks for all your advice and directions.

It was our first visit to Puerto Rico, and staying in your house and experiencing your hospitality made it very special. We were utterly impressed how meticulously well everything was organized here. To begin with, the charming flower awaiting us in the living room, tasty tropical fruits and other yummy treats in the gift basket (Gwenn, your banana bread was delicious!), and to continue with all the valuable information and helpful advice Ray and Gwenn shared with us. We enjoyed picking fresh fruits in the garden every morning so much! The house was super clean, bright, and cheerful. The view from the porch was amazing, and sipping Piña Coladas on this porch with this view at the end of the day made me wish nothing more in this life.

We loved our stay at Coqui's Hideaway. You have created a paradise right in your own backyard. Thank you of thinking of everything, for the tips, and hospitality. The fruit was amazing! We did a lot while we were here. We especially enjoyed Angelito Trail and swimming in the river at the end - bring water shoes! The rope swing was so fun! And the directions on PuertoRicoDayTrips.com helped so much. We also loved getting tons of sun at Balneario Monserrate. Again, the directions on the web site were great, as were the beach supplies. Thanks for everything.

We really enjoyed our stay at Coqui's Hideaway! It was so nice and well-equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed touring the island using your "Day trips" guides - BioBay, East Island, Culebra. The flowers on your property made for some great photos!

We had a great time. The house was fabulous. We had no idea how beautiful it was going to be. The view was breathtaking, both from the house and from the pool. The flowers in the garden were unique and amazing. We went to Old San Juan, kayaking in the biobay in Fajardo. That was amazing ... kayaking in the dark! We went to Arecibo to see the observatory. That was quite a sight and very educational. We went to Punta Santiago to go kayaking to Monkey Island, and also stopped to snorkel. Bob and Keishya (Barefoot Kayak) were awesome. We were out in the water for hours looking at the monkeys, snorkeling, and kayaking. It was the best part of our trip! Everywhere, especially El Verde Restaurant, was very convenient and close to home. Thank you Ray and Gwenn for sharing your beautiful home. We felt very comfortable and very relaxed. Oh, buy the way, we saw a couple of waterspouts in Punta Santiago - you could actually see the water being sucked up by the tornado. That was quite a sight! Thanks Ray for all your help in making this trip well-planned with all the information you gave us.

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful vacation home. We could not believe the attention to detail - from beach chairs to tips on what to do or see on the island. We inhaled the delicious bread, and loved the fruit and piña coladas. It was a very special way to celebrate our 25th anniversary, and our kids enjoyed every minute too. We truly hope to come back to your hideaway. Places we visited: • Bio bay kayak tour which was a one of a kind experience! Where else can you paddle a kayak through mangroves in pitch black darkness? • Snorkeled off the island of Icacos, and a nearby reef with beautiful fish (wear a ton of sunscreen) • The kiosks at Luquillo, and the beach at Luquillo. You have to get a piña colada in a coconut - the best refreshment! • El Yunque - beautiful to look at, and a great hike to La Mina falls • Old San Juan - El Jibarito had great authentic PR food • Horseback Riding and ATV Riding at Hacienda Campo Rico - great tour guides and a great ride • We also ate at Antojitos Puertoriqueños, which had awesome stuffed mofongo. It's on the road leading to the Wyndham Resort, 3 houses up on the right hand side, with a green and white awning. At the end of each of these outings, we were so happy to return to relax at Coqui's Hideaway.

We were surprised when we arrived to find that Coqui's Hideaway is even nicer than our imagination had led us to expect! We had a great time just hanging out here, and didn't make as many day trips as usual. The pool, veranda, and all the plants and birds were as good as any place we could have gone. We did enjoy El Yunque Forest, including pinchos (BBQ chicken) at the upper snack place on Road 191 in the forest. On Sunday, we got to the lechoneras at Guavate about noon - just in time to avoid the worst of the traffic. We had a great lunch there at El Rancho Original! It is very nice, with a pretty little stream, picnic areas, etc. Thanks so much for everything.

Our stay here has been nothing short of phenomenal Ray is extremely polite and accommodating. One evening, we were simply discussing some of the activities we were interested in. To our surprise, a few minutes later, he presented us with a list of information concerning everything we had discussed - the GPS coordinates, how to contact, phone numbers and descriptions. Our honeymoon here will always be unforgettable. We rented a boat in La Parguera, toured Old San Juan, played at one of the casinos in San Juan (Ritz Carlton), had a personal waterfall in El Yunque that was amazing, and cruised the shops in Luquillo.

Thank your for giving us the experience of living like an islander. Love how the home is decorated, and has all the stuff we need for our experiences, such as the beach goodies/towels. You have a beautiful piece of property that not everyone is blessed to have. Thank you for sharing with us the fruits from the property - so many we have never tried. A special thank you for the unexpected bottle of sparkling wine and chocolate on the night of our anniversary - so unexpected. Also, keep providing food for the stray dogs as I never realized the problem until we started looking to feed them. Many thanks for all you did. Many are blessed to have stayed with you.

Wow! What a great time we all had here! Sad that it went by so fast. We still have a long list of things we didn't get to do. Thank you very much for the wonderful experience of inviting us into your home and gardens. That made the experience here in PR at a much higher level. I hope everyone will do the biobay. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. If you travel to Culebra, be sure to hike the trail to Carlos Rosario beach for some of the BEST snorkeling I've ever done! Take the plane over - not to be missed. Hike to La Mina falls, ride the sweet Paso Fino horses at Campo Rico, take the canyoning tour and jump off the 40-foot cliff (pass on that for me, thank you). Be sure to eat at the BBQ place on the corner, and get fresh bread at La Familia Bakery 2. Lots more adventure to be had here, wish there was more time. Loved seeing the boa and hummingbirds in the amazing garden here! Thank you for everything!

This was truly a trip we will never forget. We had such a good time with an adventure every day, and then back to this comfortable home each night. The website was pivotal in planning our trips. Mini Boats and kayaking with Kayaking Puerto Rico, and biobay with Pure Adventure. The companies were fantastic! But the best excursion by far was the Rocaliza hike, waterfall rappel, and ziplines. My boys will be talking about that for a long time! Thank you both, your hospitality was wonderful, and the movie selection was just what we needed to help wind down at night. We hope to be back soon.

This place is wonderful! We have had an absolutely fantastic time. We were able to use the information you provided through your websites and the binders here at the Hideaway to see and do some fantastic things! We did the Vieques Island biobay trip. Iris was real helpful when I made the reservations. We did the Yunke Zipline tour - Roqui and Jaime were great! The kids and I had a blast. We visited Arecibo, a small local coffee farm in Adjuntas, and of course Old Town and the beach. We found a fun little restaurant called El Patio de Sam in Old Town that had the best Mahi Mahi ceviche I have ever had. Highly recommended by the whole family. Having a 21 year old daughter, the Bacardi Distillery was a big draw. We had way too much fun there! On my birthday, Bob and the kids took me out to a tiny little place in Fajardo that I would highly recommend! Ole Le Lo Lai - Maria, our waitress, was fantastic! The food was incredible and the sangria amazing. I recommend the passion fruit sangria! All in all a wonderful trip. The grounds and pool were so beautiful. Thank you Ray and Gwenn for a terrific little hideaway! I am already making plans for a return trip next summer! We had a blast!

It has been so nice to come home at night to this comfortable house and relax together. We loved th epool area and sat out at night listening to the coqui frogs. Thank you so much!

We had a great family vacation! We visited Old San Juan, tour El Morro, laid out on the beach, went out on a boat, ate out, and had a BBQ by the pool. The weather was fantastic - rained in the evening with sunny days. Thank you for the wonderful fruit and the hospitality.

Wow - the basket of fruit and snacks was great. Had Piña Coladas every night after that. Thank you! We got take-out at El Verde on the way here, and it lasted 3 meals. So, we only ate out once in Old San Juan, and in El Yunque, and in the kiosks. We went to Balneario Monserrate. They let us in 15 minutes before it closed, so the bath houses were closed. Ate at Ceviche Hut and it was good. We toured Old San Juan on Segways. It was a lot of fun. Took 2-hour tour and was glad. Swam in the pool. That was great, and the view was fantastic. Tour El Yunque. Took the tour leaving from Palo Colorado - the short tour. Enjoyed that. It rained almost the whole time we were here, so did get a chance to tour the property. Really wanted to see the grounds. We didn't know that May was rainy season! Went on the BioIsland boat out to the biobay in Fajardo. Highly recommended. Not too far. Now we're off to La Parguara for a few days. Enjoyed our visit to Coqui's! Especially loved the view from the veranda, the pool, and the fruit.

Coqui's Hideaway is one of the nicest places we've ever stayed based on accommodations alone. But, add Ray and Gwenn, and it stands apart. From the helpful advice (who would have known that grocery stores are closed on Mother's Day?) to the tour of the wondrous grounds, to the never-ending supply of fruit, to the interesting insights on island life, they are incredible hosts! We started each morning with coffee and bird-song on the porch. Our first morning here, we were agape at the long-tailed, loud and beautiful cuckoo - we found out he was a lizard cuckoo from a bird book in the bookshelf. Ray and Gwenn have truly thought of everything! When we weren't lounging on the porch or pool, we took the East Island Adventures biobay tour to Vieques, and then a few days later, the Kayaking Puerto Rico tour of the biobay in Fajardo's Laguana Grande. We both preferred the kayaking trip, although the other tour was nice and a good value as well. Our guides on the Kayaking Puerto Rico trip were very knowledgeable, plus we were closer to the glowing action! We hiked in the rainforest, and enjoyed La Mina Trail. The waterfall area was crowded, so we swam elsewhere in the river. It was magical. We took a daytrip by car to Arroyo - an old sugar town - and then took the mountain road back to San Juan. It was an interesting trip, and a good way to see many different types of landscape. On our last full day here, we took the 2-hour horse ride with Hacienda Carabali. We had a great time. The guides were fun, and the horses knew what to do even when we didn't. The animals were very well cared for. We ate in most nights, but are so glad we went to Lolita's Mexican restaurant. The food was delicious, and the menu was varied. There were plenty of vegetarian options.

We arrived to an amazing afternoon after several days in Old San Juan at Da House, right downtown on Calle San Francisco. The drive from Old San Juan through Route 187, along the coastline, has an amazing protected beach that was warm and crystal clear. The feef visible beyond the breaking surf. Drove to Luquillo and enjoyed the local fare. The beach, however, was completely "trashed" with garbage from a presumably huge Cinco de Mayo celebration. Coqui's Hideaway was everything my/our friends Joyd & John B boasted about from their recent stay 3/11 - 3/18/2013. We were inspired by their enthusiastic words, and decided to visit too. It was a perfect place to recharge batteries and relax. My 78 year old mother even got into the pool ... can't remember the last time I saw her submerged in water. She was also able to traverse the wet Baño de Oro trail with the help of a walking stick. My husband, Carlos, also used the pool for physical therapy, the most amazing therapy with a view. We hope to be back someday and will spread the word about the lovely piece of paradise.

Thanks Gwenn and Ray for an excellent, albeit short, stay. As mentioned over and over, your place if very special. It is really beautiful, while maintaining a casual vibe. We would definitely return! Two nights was not enough time to spend - but that was the plan - spend a day in the rainforest. So in that respect, it fit the bill. We are off to other adventures in Vieques, and then Old San Juan. But before our flight, we're going on a kayak trip to Monkey Island with Barefoot Travelers. We missed the kiosks, and the beach in Luquillo. Enjoyed appetizers at Barbokoa (pricey) and take-out from El Verde. And ... I almost forgot to thank you both for all the time you spend promoting PR, and providing advice on both your blog and TripAdvisor! Sorry we missed Ray ... I guess we'll have to return!

What can we say about Coqui's Hideaway that hasn't already been said? This place is a hidden gem in the mountains. Simply beautiful grounds. Everything has been thought of, and more! Breathtaking views, very clean accommodations, and the little, extras, like, the beautiful flowers from the garden, homemade banana nut bread, snacks, and piña colada ingredients were just the things to complete our stay here. Ray and Gwenn were extra friendly, and very easy-going. We started our 10-day trip on the west side of the island, which if you have time should be checked out, like Cabo Rojo lighthouse and its 200-foot cliffs, Isabela beach for snorkeling, and San German for its old world charm. When we finally came to the east side of the island, we enjoyed Old San Juan's fort, El Yunque's La Mina falls, the food kiosks at Luquillo beach — La Parrella's food was just out of this world. And you must check out Carabali's horseback riding and ATV tours. They are all super nice there. All in all, we had a wonderful vacation, and the 4 nights we spent at Coqui's Hideaway were just magical! My 4 kids can't wait to come back, and we will definitely be coming back! I m going to miss the little coqui that hangs out by the kitchen window every night!

Thank you for sharing your lovely little paradise accommodations with us. The girls loved meeting your dogs and swimming in the pool. We enjoyed zip lining, swimming near the beach in Luquillo, and sampling local foods. The day trip out with Erin Go Bragh was wonderful. Ingrid and Capt Keith were great hosts. We got to snorkel near some great reefs, walked on a beach owned by Ricky Martin, and saw the island and boat that will be used in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Our girls are 10 & 13 and didn't want to leave. They loved everything about our trip, and want to know when they can return. We will definitely recommend your place to others!

Wow! Thank you for making our second trip to PR amazing. We leave tomorrow already, and the boys are pouting about leaving! Your place is so welcoming, spotless, and you have thought of everything to make us feel at home. This second trip has really solidified our decision to retire here - only 8 years to go! We went ziplining with YZA and it was awesome. Kayaking was also a highlight, but we all agree that the best day was just hanging out at the pool and looking out to the rainforest. We are already planning our next trip back in 2014. We feel so blessed to have met you and experienced PR at Coqui's Hideaway.

This is our last day here, and we are all wishing that we could stay longer. Your Hideaway is the perfect place to rest and rejuvenate. We've enjoyed staying in a botanical garden with the wonderful variety of birds, trees, and lizards. We would have been content to spend every day right here, either on the veranda or by the pool.
We did venture out to Luquillo and enjoyed the boogie boards in the surf, the palm trees shading the beach, and the variety of food available at the kiosks.
One day was spent in Old San Juan, with the blue cobblestone streets, pastel colored buildings, forts, and cathedral. We were happy to leave the hustle and bustle, and come back "home".
Our mini-boat snorkel trip was canceled due to high surf, but two of us went on the Fajardo kayak trip to the bio bay. Didn't sound as fun as the one we've experienced on Vieques, which is the most amazing sight I've ever seen (have done that trip 3x previously). We are heading to the rain forest today to hike Angelito Trail, and to go up one of the towers. One of our party is going deep-sea fishing.. Hope to have some fresh fish for dinner tonight!
Your home is well-appointed, with everything we could need, and meow. And very clean! Thank you so much for a fantastic vacation. We will be back!

This has been a great vacation - A perfect way to celebrate two 40th birthdays! The pictures on the website do not do Coqui's justice. We were so excited. Ray was so great to "pick us up" at the restaurant because we got here after dark. Every hint was so helpful.
We loved the homemade welcome basket - we made the best piñ coladas ever. The men golfed @ Berwind's for $25 - they loved it. We rested body the pool and relaxed - a great morning. We went to Luquillo Beach and did the food kiosks - it was great. Tomorrow, the rain forest. We tried to get to Vieques today - we didn't get there in time. It was a Thursday. If you do go, get there early - at least 8 or 8:30am. That was a disappointment. We drove to the Caribbean Sea. It took a long time. The beach was warm, but lots of sea "grass", and very hard to get into. But once in, it was worth it. Water was so warm. The drive was crazy - winding mountain roads, narrow. But we felt like locals, which was great. At Luquillo, we met a couple who live 20 minutes from us in the States. And at the beach, we were serenaded by a man with a keyboard - a total experience.
We all loved it here. Ray and Gwenn are great. The saddest part of the trip was not being able to bring home one of the many (stray) dogs I fell in love with.
Thank you. We love PR and can't wait to come back!

You have created a wonderful home away from home for your guests! We were able to be "tourists" and enjoy the local attractions, or just hide away here and relax. We enjoyed doing both. The mini-boats were a blast, we had two days of hiking in El Yunque, and spent our last day riding at Carabali and relaxing by the pool. There was something for everyone, and always a comfortable end of the day here at Coqui's Hideaway.

If we had to use one word to describe our stay at the Inn, sit would be "perfect"! The accommodations had everything and more that we needed, and were so clean. The gardens and grounds were the prettiest we saw on the island, and birds were abundant - which I tried to photograph with some success.
Ray and Gwenn were helpful in every way possible - OUTSTANDING hosts. Both took time to help us locate th elusive PR Tody, the cutest bird of all.
Also, the fruit bowl and snack basket was a nice surprise. Much credit to Ray and Gwenn for making us so comfortable.

Wow! Coqui's Hideaway is wonderful! Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The views are absolutely breathtaking. The gardens are enchanting. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. Ray was here with Picacho to greet us upon our arrival, and immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. The accommodations in our side of the dwelling were tremendous, and thorough instructions were available where needed. Gwenn was kind enough to give us a thorough tour of all of the gardens and lizards and frogs present here. Finally, the welcome baskets with fresh fruit were the icing on the cake!

The relaxation and beauty of this haven private resort-like space were the perfect last few days of our vacation in Puerto Rico. A great place to return to after a day of hiking in El Yunque. The folder of Day Trips was an excellent resource. We took a copy of the page with us to Juan Diego Falls hike. I recommend it, so short for a great waterfall. You can easily skip the second part of it to another bigger waterfall. This was much trickier climbing. Excellent interpretive tour from Palo Colorado visitor area. Steep hike, but worth it to the peak tower — top of the world feeling! Buy a coco frio along the El Yunque 191 route. Drink the coconut water, then ask them to cut in half and you can eat the fresh coconut. Thanks Ray, Gwenn, and Picacho — we loved our stay here, you do an amazing job! Thanks for the great fruit and the wonderful garden tour!
