Ray & Gwenn are selling their property in Puerto Rico, and will therefore no longer be taking reservations. Our closing date is in June 2024, and we will continue to personally host all guests that have bookings through then. We'd like to thank everyone who has stayed with us over the past 17+ years, and we hope that your memories of your time at Coqui's Hideaway are as good as our memories of hosting your families and friends!
We are excited to announce that Kaitlin Andryauskas will be the new owner of Coqui’s Hideaway effective 20 June 2024! Kaitlin has been hosting guests in Boston for 6 years, and has been spending several months a year in Puerto Rico since 2021. Her love of Puerto Rico, the rain forest, and hosting guests is contagious. We are happy to be passing the property into her hands.
Kaitlin is opening bookings from 01 July 2024 - 30 April 30 2025 and would like to give previous guests first dibs on dates. If you would like to book your next stay, please contact Kaitlin at RainforestRetreatsPR@gmail.com. You can also sign up for her monthly newsletter with updates here.
Being located in the rain forest, we feel close to nature and strive to make as little environmental impact as possible. In an effort to be more eco-friendly, to cut our reliance on Puerto Rico’s energy grid, and to reduce our costs through alternative power sources, we installed a 12kW solar system in early 2015 that provides 94% of the electricity needed to run our home and business. In 2018 and 2020, we added a battery back-up system to our home electrical system that stores energy, detects outages and automatically becomes our home's energy source when the grid goes down.
We are an Energy Star Small Business Partner. We believe that greater energy efficiency can increase the financial health of our organization and aid in preserving the environment for future generations. We pledge to buy Energy Star equipment and upgrade the energy efficiency or our facilities whenever financially viable.
Here are some of the steps we've taken to reduce our overall environmental impact …
